Chapter 24 of The Lost Ring Codex tells us that the best way to coordinate multiverse navigation is during the first two weeks of August, when the other worlds practice a nightly ritual. They call it "Ariadne's dance".

The Codex authors say that the tradition was somewhat known in this world. Can you find out if Ariadne's dance really exists? If so, are there any instructions in this world that teach us how to do it?

I guess we have to make like Eli Hunt and do a little research...]]>

Solve the parallel geographies - with the PanCosmologizer! http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do
Kai made us an amazing new visualizer. It's called the PanCosmologizer. We can use it to plot the parallel geographies described in the Lost Ring Codex.

There are six visual layers in the app. Each one represents a different kind of world. Nuna, Kenorland, Gondwana, Pangaea, Neopangaea... all we have to do is figure out how the different continents line up in the parallel worlds.

We know what the geographies look like -- the Codex told us that much. And we think that the postcards Jorge gave to Monica's great (great) uncle show us at least two sets of alignment points.

So do we have enough information to map all six geographies, one on top of each other?

Play with the PanCosmologizer and post your jpegs of your solution here. If we can solve the mystery of how the worlds align, we can plan our synchronizing labyrinths... and maybe even make the omph knot!

Here's how to install it:

1. Download the AIR runtime from http://get.adobe.com/air/
2. Install AIR runtime
3. Download PanCosmologizer application from http://kaitown.googlepages.com/PanCosmologizer.zip
4. Install the PanCosmologizer.

Post your possible solutions on the forums.]]>

Make a Top 10 List of Things We've Learned from the Codex http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do
We need to boil down the epic story the original six travelers wrote to a "must know" document.

What are the Top 10 Things we've learned from the Lost Ring Codex so far?

Let's work together on this mission on the forums.

Post your suggestions for the list, or make your own complete list. When we've collectively got our favorite top 10 list, I'll blog it.

I think Sofia (the knowledge seekers) and Dikaiosune (the list makers, among other things!) would be especially helpful for this mission, but really EVERYONE's POV would be good to have for our top 10 so we make sure we don't miss anything vital.]]>

Know thy enemy - and get inside Theo's mind http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do
According to The Art of War, by Sun Tzu: "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not your enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

Many of us consider ourselves enemies of Theo -- despite that fact that we don't understand him (them? it?) very well. Our job is to understand the enemy so as to defeat the enemy. Meanwhile perhaps some other sect of us considers ourselves potential allies. Their job is to understand the enemy so as to cooperate with the enemy.

Both roads may be worth taking, at least for part of our journey.

We have few clues to Theo's intentions. However, a friend of MeiHui's named Thermantia has recently reached out to some of us with what seems to be an important clue.

Perhaps if you are interested in learning more about Theo and its purposes, you would enjoy the historical information at this website, which I have recently stumbled upon. It is more learned than it would appear at first glance.

Is Thermantia a sympathizer with Theo's cause? A friend of Theo? Or even a member of Theo? Perhaps Chariton can help us understand more about Thermantia, while Thumos continues to make its own investigation of Theo...]]>

Practice running the labyrinth pattern! http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do
You don't need to wait to get a team together to start training. You can lay out the labyrinth pattern or chalk it on the pavement, and start running it with your eyes open.

Let your muscle memory kick into action. Soon you'll be be able to run the pattern blindfolded at the training events -- and eventually, during our synchronized competitions!

Investigate the artifact in Bruxelles http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do help us solve a mystery.

So far, no one knows what happened to the artifact hidden in Casa Manuel in Bruxelles.

The omphaputer says someone entered the recovery code at least once.

But who? And why haven't they shared the code with me, or any of our friends? Is the artifact even really gone?

I really, really want to see the next chapter. We can't just forget about this artifact! If someone took it, we need to know who. And if it's still there, we need to go get it!

Can you organize and lead this investigation?]]>

Get Eli Hunt to email you back! http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do
He's dropped off the face of the earth. At least, it seems that way. Who knows, maybe he got sucked through a vortex of collapsing multiverses. I hope not. We still need to find out everything he knows! (And maybe some day actually get our hands on that old copy of The New Atlantis...)

His email is thelostgames@gmail.com.

Plan and test a synchronizing labyrinth http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do
We have to create a plan for synchronizing labyrinths -- and we have to practice them before the Olympiad.

We still have three months before the Multiverse Olympiad is held. (Assuming that it takes place in August, which the Lost Ring Codex suggests.)

In order to synchronize with all six types of worlds, we'll have to synchronize six labyrinths on this world-- most likely, one on each continent. Once we make the omph knot, we should be able to get more information from the other worlds about times and dates of the Multiverse Olympiad. But between now and then, we need to figure out how to organize our own Olympic-level labyrinth events, how to geographically coordinate them with each other and the other worlds, and how to train our runners to be competitive in a race against the other worlds.

It seems like there are three key challenges, which dikaiosune and mythopoeia can hep solve now.

1. LAYOUT

We'll have to find space for and learn how to lay out Olympic-level labyrinths (as opposed to the smaller training labyrinths).

We'll also have to learn how to orient the labyrinth in the same direction across the multiverse. Along what axis does the exit line up with the center? (As one member of team agonothetai has already suggested on the forums... does the omphalos code help here?)

2. TIMING

How can we coordinate the races to start at exactly the same second in each of our six labyrinths?

3. TALENT

How can we identify the athletes who will compete in the Multiverse Olympiad? Who are the fastest runners, and how will they train to get good enough to synchronize with runenrs in worlds where the human labyrinth is NOT a lost sport? Perhaps we should begin to identify contenders now, so they have time to train sufficiently...

Dikaisune and Mythopoeia, you are our best hope for coming up with a plan and with beautiful instructions or even a video guide for preparing and testing synchronizing labyrinths...]]>

Organize lost sport training events! http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do Lost Sport training events!

We don't know anyone who is actually good at this sport yet -- at least, not in this world. So ANYONE could turn out to be the world's best. We need to get as many people playing as possible to discover our own lost game champions! There are lost Olympic champions out there just waiting to be discovered... champion runners, and champion walls!

We've got our upcoming group for Labyrinth Training Events.

But there are lots of different ways to organize and promote training events. Share your best ideas with each other, and remember: every training session, no matter how small, is important!]]>

Start a Log of Record Training Times for the Lost Sport http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do
We can record fastest times and the names of runners in each city that is training.

It's also probably important to log names of team members for the wall who are committed to continued training. Because one thing we now know for sure is that have a smart, fast, and well-synchronized wall is at least as important as having a fast runner!

Eventually, when we do our synchronizing labyrinths, I think it will be important to be able to match up runners of similar talent on all of the different continents.

One thing I was thinking about as I watched videos of runners from the different cities... I don't know if in other worlds, they compete men and women separately. We know for sure that the ancient Greeks only allowed men to compete in their Olympiad, but obviously the modern games have both men champions and women champions. Clearly, our teams can and should include both men and women in the same wall, but we should probably keep track of fastest men and fastest women's times. What do you think?

Sophrosune, as the referees for the Lost Sport, you should be able to help a lot with this mission. And mythopoeia, as the official documenters for training events and synchronizing labyrinths, your strength will be important to include as well.

Well, let's start a log forums -- or if you design a log somewhere else, please post a link on the discussion thread!]]>

Create a Personal Labyrinth Register http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/strength.do
You must sign the personal labyrinth register.

You must show to the many worlds your intentions to finish the rite beforehand, by signing the labyrinth register.

In the register, you must write your name, your location, your chosen place for the labyrinth, and the date that you intend to finish the rite. You must write this information at least one a day beforehand.

The labyrinth register must be kept in the omphaloi. Typically, each main city has its own register.

I honestly have no idea how or where we are supposed to do this.

Is the register physical? Or can it be digital?

What omphaloi are we supposed to keep it in?

If have a feeling we need to start running personal labyrinths soon, but not until we can figure out how to declare our intentions in the register...
